Spotykach

The First Contact Guide is an introduction to the Spotykach. It gets you to where the panel makes sense. It starts by getting sound out in the first minute, then covers the idea the instrument is built around: a deck with a playhead moving through it. From there each section adds one thing — modes, shaping, timing, modulation, effects, patterns, two decks together. The last section walks a whole performance end to end.

The Reference and Quick Reference Cards cover Spotykach two ways.

The reference is organised by what you're working on: deck controls, recording, playback, modulation, effects, the sequencer, the clock, MIDI and the SD card. Set it to reel, slice or drift and it drops the entries written for the other two modes. Search as you type across all of it.
The quick reference cards are for doing things. Taken in order, they run from powering up and recording a first loop to patching modulation, recording patterns and playing a deck from MIDI. Each one ends with what to check if it didn't work.
The final card shows what every control does under a modifier.

It is optimized for a desktop browser or a tablet. Mobile works, but is cramped. Printing is supported.

The Spotykach WAV Builder, by Jon Waterschoot, is an incredible tool. It makes the process of getting sound onto the SD card in the form Spotykach expects easier. Drop in almost any audio file and it comes out as a 48 kHz stereo WAV, laid out in the six tapes of six slots the hardware reads. Browse community sample packs, write a ready-made preset to a card in one step, or tidy up a single file. Studio is the full workspace: projects, tapes, a waveform editor and card builds. When you have sounds worth sharing, it packages them for the app's library. It runs in the browser, best on a desktop.
